[two haiku for spring rain]

~

waterthrush at dusk

          its perfect mandalas

                    wash downstream

~

lighting the path at dawn

          a thousand Chinese lanterns

                    dewdrops in the grass

~

We’ve had a few days of soft rain here. After a year of severe drought (bringing our well perilously low at times), an inch and a half of rain is gratefully welcomed. Birds, creeks, plants, and the rest of us slake our thirst. (EEH)
